I have to admit, I’m one of those people who love visiting IKEA just to see how their furniture looks in a real home. But what a lot of people don’t know is that IKEA actually has a little cafeteria tucked away in the store.
And let me tell you, it’s worth a visit. The food is surprisingly tasty and affordable, making it a great option for a quick bite to eat while you’re shopping.
One of my favorite meals to get at IKEA is their breakfast. They serve it during specific hours, so it’s important to check ahead of time. But trust me, it’s worth planning your trip around.
The breakfast options include everything from eggs and bacon to Swedish pancakes with lingonberry jam. And, of course, there’s plenty of coffee to go around.
So next time you find yourself getting hungry while shopping at IKEA, make sure to stop by their cafeteria. And if you’re there during breakfast hours, definitely give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
What Time Does IKEA Serve Breakfast?
When it comes to mealtime, IKEA probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.
However, if you do find yourself craving for a meal while inside the furniture store, needless to say, you won’t have to go out and find another restaurant — they serve meals right inside the shop for hungry patrons.
In fact, 30 percent of IKEA shoppers visit the shop specifically for the food!
If you plan to drop by IKEA early to avoid the long queue at checkout but haven’t had breakfast yet, you’re in luck — the breakfast cafeteria opens at 9:30 am, which is 30 minutes earlier before the main store opens at 10.
You have until 11 to avail of all their breakfast meals.
And you know what the best part is? You can get a satisfying breakfast meal for under $1.50!
Most Popular Breakfast Meals
If you don’t want to spend too much money on breakfast but still want a sizable meal, the Basic Breakfast at IKEA is for you.
This dish comes with a generous serving of scrambled eggs, fried breakfast potatoes, and two turkey sausage links, served on a glass plate with silverware.
It costs just $1.49, which leaves you with plenty of moolah to buy that gorgeous wooden dresser you’ve been eyeing!
Aside from selling ready-to-assemble furniture, IKEA is also most famous for its Swedish meatballs, which have been around since the ‘80s.
There are four variants to their mouthwatering meatballs: chicken, salmon, veggie (vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free), and, of course, the quintessential pork and beef, served with a scoop of mashed potatoes, creamy gravy, and lingonberry jam.
IKEA offers Assorted Muffins if your type of breakfast usually consists of pastry and a hot cup of coffee.
Choose from either chocolate chip or banana (daily staples), or cross your fingers and hope that the specialty flavor they carry for the day is your favorite!
Swedish Pancakes with Lingonberry Jam
You can apply a Swedish upgrade to the Basic Breakfast with the addition of Swedish pancakes and lingonberry jam.
You’ll get everything on the Basic Breakfast meal above, plus two Swedish pancakes and a generous dollop of sweet lingonberry jam for your very own Swedish American Breakfast.

When does the IKEA breakfast hour end?
The IKEA breakfast hour ends at 11:00 am every day. So if you want to avail of the cheap breakfast eats at the furniture store, make sure that you get up early so that you get there on time!
Does IKEA serve breakfast every day?
Yes, IKEA serves breakfast every day, but their breakfast meals are not available for the entire day. From 11:00 am onwards, the store will sell only their lunch and dinner items.
As someone who’s spent plenty of time shopping at IKEA, I can tell you that going on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster. Luckily, the folks at IKEA understand that too.
In fact, according to the founder Ingvar Kamprad, “It’s difficult to do business with someone on an empty stomach.” And that’s exactly why IKEA offers affordable meals inspired by Swedish cuisine to their patrons.
And let me tell you, the food is delicious. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic Swedish meatball dish or a hearty plate of pancakes, you can count on IKEA to deliver.
But if you’re looking for the best time to sample IKEA’s breakfast offerings, make sure to stop by between 9:30 am and 11:00 am. That’s when they serve up their delicious Swedish breakfast options and trust me, you won’t want to miss it.
So next time you’re planning a trip to IKEA, make sure to come hungry. And if you’re there during breakfast hours, definitely give it a try. You won’t regret it.
